The latest round of conferences is upon me, which means it’s time for me to pack up a whole bunch of gear, hop on a plane and do my best to extrovert for the next week and a half.1 By the time you’re reading this, in fact, I’ll be on a plane and getting ready for a good day of set-up with my teammates before familiarizing myself with the Dallas comic book store scene.
A book or two. You might not get a lot of reading in, but you should still try. For this trip, I’m bringing along The Master’s Plan of Evangelism, Grit, and might pick up something if I make it to the aforementioned comic book store.
Sensible shoes. If you’re doing lots of walking and/or standing, taking care of your feet is a must with a quality pair of sneakers (aka runners, tennis shoes, or whatever name you want to use).
A battery pack for your phone. Especially if you spend too much time social media-ing and/or showing people important information on it.
A good pair of headphones or earbuds. If you’re flying and need to chill out, these are a must.
Coffee. Other beverages, too, especially water. But, yeah, you’re going to need this.
Mints. Because you’ve been drinking coffee.
A good night’s sleep. I’ll admit, sleeping well is a struggle for me at conferences (I tend to be overstimulated because of human interaction), but I try. Some folks find melatonin helps, so maybe I’ll try that.
- If you’re at the SBC Annual Meeting in Dallas or TGC Women’s Conference in Indianapolis, come on by and say hi. ↵
