Nerdy Christmas gift ideas

It’s once again the time of year where some of us are thinking about how to avoid hearing the worst Christmas songs in the world while we also think about what a loved one might enjoy as a Christmas gift. And because the former is perhaps the easier of the two, I wanted to offer some help on the latter. So, here are a few gift ideas for the (theologically or otherwise) nerdy guy or girl in your life.

A Witty Theologians Journal. These are part of a new line of products available at LifeWay featuring quotes from Charles Spurgeon, John Bunyan, Andrew Murray, Augustine, and G. K. Chesterton. I’ve got a Chesterton journal, and I love it:

You love it too.

Books! Of course these are going to be on the list, so I should narrow it down a touch. Depending on what’s your jam, here are a couple:

  • 2000 Years of Christ’s Power by Nick Needham. This is one of the most accessible church history series available, and the new editions from Christian Focus are lovely.
  • Fantastic Four: Into the Time Stream and Fantastic Four: The New Fantastic Four by Walter Simonson. These are a bit of a deep cut recommendation, but they’re excellent.
  • Civilization: The West and the Rest by Niall Ferguson. This one is just fascinating, so, yeah, you should read it.

Cutting Boards. But not just any cutting board, a cutting board from Missional Wear with 1 Corinthians 10:31 on it:

What I read in August

Normally I like to share a breakdown of everything I read every month, including the books I abandoned. I do this because it gives me an opportunity to introduce you to books you might not have had an opportunity to read while practicing the art of writing concise book reviews. Because I spent my entire […]
